McAfee SecurityCentre + SiteAdvisor?

    Just thought I'd see what your views on this were. I bought McAfee SecurityCentre + SiteAdvisor yesterday to give it a try, and so far it is brilliant. Here is why;

    • No system lag from hogging resources (which I heard the previous versions did)
    • Works a dream with Windows Vista
    • SiteAdvisor helps you predict the safety of a website before you click
    • Runs very fast, and is almost phantom in the background

    And since I was always a Norton fan (which I still am), and have used it religiously for about 6 years, I needed to know what the competition was like...and I tell you, I am sticking with McAfee.

    But the purpose of this thread is so I can ask, 'What is the Virus/Spam/Spyware/AdWare like?'. I haven't really had it long enough to test it, and I don't fancy purposely infecting my PC to find out.

    If it is worthy and keep those infections at arms length, I will definitely switch to McAfee.

    I like Mcafee SiteAdvisor, got it installed. It stops you from going to any unsafe site & on Google & Yahoo, it shows next to it which sites are potentially dangerous

    That's my favorite feature. And even better is that, if McAfee is unsure you can request it to be tested and visit the website later.

    Unfortunately, SiteAdvisor's test methodology is seriously flawed. It gives false negative results on wholly innocent sites. Every webmaster should install the free plug-in to be aware if their site is being unfairly rated (I'd never have known mine was if I hadn't - I'd just be wondering why traffic was down.) But don't believe a site is bad just because SiteAdvisor says it is.

    Read my blog on how SiteAdvisor is defaming my site because of a false detection of malware my McAfee's scanner.
