McAfee Secure alternative

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by tbarr60, Feb 18, 2009.

I was considering using McAfee Secure but was quoted over $10,000 per year due to the number of visitors. For a daily automated scan and serving up a badge, that's a little steep for me. So I am looking for alternatives for comparison quotes. So far Trust Guard looks interesting. Give me some feedback on these two.

Are there any open source ones?

Consider going with VeraSafe. They have lower pricing and good support. I asked them for a custom-sized trust seal, and they delivered no problem.

I know that Trust Guard has no band width or impression fees. The price you pay when you sign up is the price you pay for the life of your account. Trust Guard does not believe in raising their fees for their customers. Also, they do not have contracts unlike Mcafee. http://www.trust-guard.com/index-simple.php?utm_expid=1880506-1

I hope this helps you with your decision.

Having used both TrustGaurd and VeraSafe I can say for sure that I would recommend VeraSafe. Their support is spot on, and they also don't raise their prices once you've got your account setup. ChrisRey do you work for TrustGaurd, lol?

Scan Verify is not a recommended option, particularly if you need make sure your website does not have malware and viruses.

This article from the US Postal Service lists 3 recommended options. Truste, BBB and VeraSafe. Of the 3, VeraSafe is the only one offering malware and vulnerability scans: http://about.usps.com/management-instructions/as610123/as610123_013.htm
