Hi All- I have a few blogs and want to optimize the google ads more with testing. Right now I have the big vertical at the top and a horizontal down the left hand side. I would like to try other ad formats and track the performance etc. I have heard a lot about 336 x 280 ads blended into content and would like to give this a try with my blog posts. However I know that I can not have more then three ads displayed at one time or it is against the Google TOS. SO do I put the adsense code on every new post or do I put it on every few posts or what? You see if I put it on every post are more then three ads going to be displayed? Or will google figure this out and diplay the ads only on the top three posts or what? Thanks Ichibanda
Well that depends on what kind of blog you're using. If you're using Wordpress, there are plugins that will automatically display the number of ads you tell it. If it's Blogger, well, can't help you there, I don't know anything about Blogger, but maybe someone else can. And no, you shouldn't just insert the code in your blogging template and let the codes 'figure out by itself' because although it may not show more than 3 ads (Google stops showing everything after 3 ads unless you use frames), the codes themselves are still showing up, they're just not showing ads. So yes, you would still be in violating of the TOS.
Hi There jackburton2006- I started using wordpress. It seems to be the best blogging application for the price! Also it has some great features like the automatic blog and ping etc. Plus the themes they offer are awesome! I am a die hard wordpress guy now and love how easy it is to add content etc. What plugin would you suggest. I used one don't remember the name now. You could easily insert the a little php text and it would add the ads in. However I then go back to my first question which you answered, but I am not sure what to do. If I should not add the code on all of my posts how do I decide which ones to add it to? The way I am working with my site is a mix of static and dynamic pages. All of my major content pages, articles etc are static pages. I upload the page and then I do a short summary blurb about the new page in wordpress which is my index.html page. This seems to be working well to get everything indexed. However I am not sure how to best integrate adsense. I have played with adding images after readinf the forum here but want to futher test and optimize but not sure where to take it. You can view the two sites I am talking about here http://www.planbestwedding.com http://www.babyshowerguides.com They are both getting click through rates that are pretty decent. 8 to 12% so maybe I should just leave it. However I have not tested at all and am stuck wondering if I fiddle with things could I boost that up. and If so what should I do? Thanks Ichibanda
Here's a thread I started about the two Adsense plugins for Wordpress you'll need -- one is Adsense Deluxe, which allows you to manually insert a snippet of code where you want your Adsense to show up, and the other is MightyAdsense, which automatically inserts a set number of ads in your posts at the bottom or on top. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=76799
If you use blogger.com then Google only shows three ad blocks anyway. It can look a bit ugly as you get big blank spaces where the blocks should be though
