Maybe Its Time To Try Something Different

The last update in December - January made some record achievement in terms of Page Rank. This time most but not everyone is not satisfied and lets include the big guys. Most of us are using the same scripts. Do some directory owners plan to use other scripts ? For 2 updates now I see some directories with different scripts getting more high PR even without that much marketing and promotion. LinksJuice has made it in the last update with IndexSniff this update and both are Site Sift Script. Would you think it would hurt to do some experimenting trying out some other script ?

    Thanks

Well, I cannot say for sure that you are right, but there could be some truth to this, since this update was really, really weird. Some directtories got PR6 and PR7 from nothing, and on the other side Alive lost it's PR, and you got only PR5.

But on the other hand, I got PR6, and I made my directory after the last update, using phplinkdirectory. Although, I did expect PR6 since I have many backlinks (but not too many) including 5 PR7.

Maybe you overdid your link building campaign? Or maybe too many sitewide links could be the reason? Althought I doubt it...

jude i am very much agreeing with you there.

i think that sift got to be a more SEF than phpld so thts one but there is alot other features need to be in sift to make it the best out there ...

maybe you can work on that ... in the meantime ... i might start a dir. on sift script.

Doesn't hurt trying different scripts, but I honestly can't believe that PR is related to that:rolleyes: SEF url's I believe, but the rest is BS in my opinion

Just wait a few more weeks and hopefully your pr will change from now.

Yep. will be moving from a phpld ---> site-sift script for the next project.

After looking into site-sift for 10 minutes yesterday, and understanding it well, it's going to be fun again to try something different, make new mods, and port things over. :)

I just launched my first directory outside of phpld, totalXsearch.com and am basically pleased so far. I will be writing a series of blog posts/articles about my experiences in the near future.

For me it is more a test of capturing search engine traffic and trying out a whole new look and style as opposed to page rank. Only time will tell.

A few weeks ago I also started using another script, not cause of pR or anything but just to see what else is out there, the script is http://www.esyndicat.com/

This script has so much in it straight out of the box;)

I am still waiting for the genuis that comes out with an all inclusive directory script that has all important mods straight out of the box and offers installation and a couple dozen free template with low cost paid modifications for a unique look.

I would love to see phpld go that way and make a deal with some of the mod creators to include a bunch of them in a new premium paid version.

I agree, but some people are comfortable with what they know best.. so it's all down to personal favourites and opinions.

Drop me a PM if you need help with deeplinks mod :)

Inovation is the key. Everything web related is changing, so if good coding scripts get the job done, super.

Yes, it seems Site Sift directory somehow makes it better at indexing, somehow.....

    I have three examples here:
    LinksJuice
    IndexSniff
    Elegant Directory
    (Sorry i missed some other)

    All of them at PR6
    I sense something here :)

It's not that they are PR6 just for the reason that they are running on sitesift. Definitely they have been promoted a lot than others. But still, one can sense that sitesift is good, very good to get going.
I have already started a new directory. Categories being added currently. And will start promoing it too :) And God knows where it will land up. Perhaps alongside the above three mentioned Biggies. ;)

Jude, personal congratulations for IndexSniff. That's a great stuff! However bad luck this time for Dirsensei. I personally know that it deserved a lot more...But then the G thing comes which we never can understand...

Good luck for next update! :)
