Hi, Is there a limit to the number of outgoing links from a home page of a site if it has to maintain good Google PR and be a good site for Google? Well, I want to sell link ads on my site but I don't want to litter my sites with such links all over. So, how many outgoing links should I be limiting my website to? Or is it in some proportion to the incoming links? If it has anything to do with it, then for every 100 incoming links, how much of outgoing links is fine? Any insights into this would be helpful. Thanking in anticipation.
Google says in its webmaster guidelines here: Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100). If you are selling links you'll probably get more people interested if you limit it to 20 or less as each additional link diminshes the value of the other links.
google says that using more than 100 outgoing links is not good. it's possible that google will consider sites which has more than 100 outgoing links as link farm
And also each sitewide link eats from your strength , If your site is important for you have to consider this ,too.
I think that depends on the "neighborhood" of your web site, if your outgoing links are pointing to relevant and trusted site it will help you, however I have no idea about the maximum number of outgoing links.
huh ... just one litte thing. Outgoing link is by definition a link to another domain . right? :x sorry ... still learning .
Correct, just one thing to remember, internal links from your home page generally give the linked to page a PR of one less than the PR of the home page, not always though. Internal pages not linked to from the home page generally have a PR of two less than the home page!
