Maximum new links to avoid sandbox

Does anyone know at what rate you can add links without being sandboxed by Google? I was sandboxed initially for one of my phrases when I threw 5000 weight from my coop network at it at once. I've just added more ads to my site and therefore increased my weight dramatically and I'm concerned about getting sandboxed for my phrases again. I've added a lot more ads to compensate and have gone for more tricky keywords but I don't know if this makes any difference. Does anyone have a clear idea of how much weight it is safe to throw at a keyword at once without getting sandboxed?

Whoever said that adding links too quickly was even the cause of the "sandbox" ? - its nothing more than a guess.

There are big differences between the "sandbox" and drop in rankings for a keyword(s) and ranking poorly. Are you sure it was the sandbox? From your brief description it does not sound like it to me.

My site was number one for a specific keyphrase then it dissapeared from the rankings alltogether. Nothing else had changed. It is only a guess but very many people are of the opinion that this occurs and I am definately one of them as this has happened to me with Google several times while myranking remain constant with other sites.

Unless this was a new site, it wasn't the sandbox, assuming there even is such a thing. It's more likely to be standard Google tweaks + new pages entering the competition for that search term OR some kind of penalty.

I agree, if you have a new site, I would not even worry about the search engine rankings. Do some PPC and submit to directories targeting your area of service and expertise. Use common sense and don't spam. Whatever works in the real world is most likely going to benefit your rankings as well.

Sorry I think maybe I have misused the term Sandbox here and caused some confusion. My site is around 7 months old and while it was initially ignored by Google it is now appearing in their results, although very inconsistently. My question should have been phrased "How much weight can you throw at a phrase without being penalised by google" I have heard that if google discovers too many links to your site at once that they penalise you, this is what I assume happened to me not a sandbox, I misused the term. Anyway my question is how much weight can you throw at a keyphrase in one go without getting penalised?

I don't see the logic in limiting the amount of links you add to avoid the sandbox. Personally I think all new sites are sandboxed anyway, and also if you're targetting a particuarly competitive KW phrase then if you're just adding 4-5 links per day it would take you longet to get into the top10 then it would to come out of the sandbox!

so far i see the sandbox being 5-6 months for new sites.
This is not necessarily the case for all sites...some apparently make it sooner.
    (so they claim)

the 'norm' seems to be...you rank well for the first 2 weeks, and post in lots of forums about how your site avoided the sandbox....and then it falls off the face of the planet...before re-emerging on page 4 or 5 of the serps....(if you did some OK seo...and built up a few links during your wait.)

the amount of links has not been proved...the more the merrier for me :)
lets face it...a million links to your site can't hurt it too much

A spike in IBL's raises a flag, calling for review. Unnatural linking and linking schemes WILL get you some quiet time in "the sandbox". Those that don't believe are only fooling themselves. A site's age has much to do with it as well. Newer sites will be crushed for massive linking campaigns - go ahead and try.

fortunately i don't recall doing that, although i do remember thinking WhereTF has my site gone!

its merely an example of what i see others doing.
I dont think posting your site anywhere is detrimental, its probably destined for the sandbox anyhoo.
