I am interested in hostmetro.com, but they say they offer Maximum bandwidth and Maximum space. I am guessing that does mean it is not unlimited, does anybody know what it means?

THIS IS NO AFFILIATE LINK OR SPAM

    Straight from their site:

Sounds like the ol' "unlimited" scam but only with a new name.

I wouldn't really say the 'unlimited' is a scam, but like everything else there is a limit.

So....if there is a limit, how is it unlimited? It's a marketing scam. If there are limits, then why hide them? Why not just outright say what those limits are? It's because to the consumer who doesn't know any better, "unlimited" sounds so much better.

You're describing the exact situation the cell phone companies encountered a few years ago. Verizon and AT&T used to offer "unlimited" data plans. They were found having hidden limits, throttling connections, limiting their "unlimited" users, and they were sued up one side and down the other, and lost multi-million dollar class action lawsuits. Guess what 2 cell phone companies no longer offer "unlimited" data plans. ;)

What is happening with "unlimited" hosting is no different, except nobody cares about this industry enough to file lawsuits. A couple major lawsuits and you would see things change very quickly in the hosting world.

Unlimited bandwidth maybe possible but unlimited space forget it.
They most probably ban you the moment you reach 10GB for reason "abuse".
