Maximize small success?

Been lurking for a bit but now that I am getting started I have some questions. Great forum, by the way..you guys seem to know your stuff and some of the posts are very inspirational.

My question is how to kick things up a notch. I have been article marketing and have 32 articles live. So far, this approach has made me around 190 but I want to grow it bigger. Is thw whole idea behind this just to have as many articles as you can live on EzineArticles? Do I just keep writing new articles to sumbit everyday?

It seems as if the articles start out strong but then slowly die out. Now the cool thing is, they don't completely die out. They seem to still generate traffic and clicks so I guess that is good organic traffic, right? Even though that seems a bit slow.

The google "dance" is a funny thing. One of my articles has been hopping between front page, second page and no page on google. Is this the norm? The strange thing is, it is for a keyword that Wordtracker says gets 800 hits a day, but it still doesn't net me much traffic to my article, even when its on the front page. Any ideas why?

Thanks for all the help! I will try to participate here more often as I have learned so much from here aleady and want to give something back.

I'd say just keep pumping out content. The more I seem to pump out, the more I make.

But I also think that once you get a method down, you expand into a new area. When you first start article marketing, you go pretty slow and the articles don't come out that fast. But as you do more, you get faster and more efficient. When you get more efficient, you have more time to try something else.

You might want to try email marketing, or diversifying your income source by using adsense. That's the advice I'd give.

And yes the articles bounce around with google.

I agree with Supper. When you're doing well with articles, try to combine it with something else, like collecting emails. Then you can market to people on a continuing basis. From emails you can get ideas for creating new products, and so on.
You can also try writing a blog, it's another way to get some traffic and exposure.

Thank you both! Yeah, it is awesome finally having some sales. I finally got a Mastercard sale so I may actually see a check from Clickbank next month. Supper, how many articles would you say I need until I get some consistency in my sales?

I have learned a ton so I am proud of that. I just want to really fire this project up to the next level.

I would look into sites like Squidoo and Hubpages to get more mileage from your articles. That way you can add related content around them at the same time. This may stop any duplicate content issues. Your pages will also benefit by being in the mix. Most of the Squidoo pages I have never promoted end up getting Pagerank just by being there. It takes a little more time, but as your pages build, it essentially becomes a mini-network linking back to your site.

Not sure. I think I maybe on par for my first week of getting consistent sales, but we'll see. I currently have 154 live articles at ezinearticles. Plus I have articles at other places.

OK, good number to shoot for and it at least gives me a goal. I am sending most of these articles to Squidoo lenses. I did purchase a domain name and am using a redirect for the product, but its funny...its seems as if the redirect to the merchant page hasn't helped sales. I was losing clicks at my lens but now when I send them directly to the merchant page I haven't seen any extra (or any conversions). It has been a lot of fun figuring this whole thing out, but sometimes it is just one giant puzzle, isn't it?

Got one more article completed and accepted. Checked my Clickbank account (yes, I need to be a little less obsessive about that) and BOOM! Another sale for around 26 bucks! This really blows me away some times. And to think I was considering getting a second part-time job. I think I would rather write articles, thank you very much!

And just got yet one more article accepted as I was typing in here. 34 live articles and counting! This is much more fun than any second job could be. Thank you all!!

Cool. Just aim to be consistent. Don't burn yourself out writing a ton of articles each day. Aim for a number and do it everyday(like 10). In 15 days you'll have 150.

Thanks for the advice Supper. It has been really fun following your progress, thats for sure. Yeah, I plan to shoot for a few more today and not burn myself out. But it does get you excited everytime you see an actual sale!

Tip: don't write any more aricles.

You're getting paid $5 per article and you've got to keep writing more and more for it to be profitable. Invest your energy into your own site. You've got the data you need for market research - just get out there and build a site in the niche.

That way, you can target more people and build a credible asset in your biz.

I agree with pope. I haven't tried redirecting a domain to a hoplink, so I don't know how it works, but I think you're wasting potential doing that.

You're missing out on the link juice. You could use that to get your page to the top of the SE's. And the top of the SE's is free traffic.

You miss the opportunity to presell.

You miss the opportunity to capture the surfers email address, so you can sell to them later.
