hello. i'm completely new to web marketing and have a few questions: link building: from what i've read so far, the more links to my website there are on other websites, the better my page rank will be exp. with google adwords. what i want to know is how the bots deal with website content they are crawling i.e. if i put a URL to my website in a forum for instance, does that count as a link when a bot finds it? i also have a question about press releases: i've read that submitting press releases to many different sites is a good way to build links to my site. how exactly does the press release process work and is there something like a 101 tutorial on it? my last question is how do i find out the current bid prices to google's adwords? or have i got the wrong end of the stick here? thanks for all help and pointers....
You should do a little reading on DoFollow and NoFollow. The link on a website pointing to your domain may be a NoFollow which means you will not get credit towards your PageRank from it. You still can get traffic from it and having a link on the right site, even if it is NoFollow, can be very valuable despite not getting a boost in PR from it. PR is great and you should put some real effort into getting it up but you will also want to spend some time getting links setup that will bring targeted traffic that converts. I am not well versed when it comes to Press Releases and how they work so I will leave that for someone else who knows a bit more about them than I do atm. Just set up your ad with AdWords and based on the keywords you choose, it will give you information including the minimum bid amount for each term and the expected price to get a certain position within the ad blocks. You can view all this information right in the AdWords setup before your ad goes live.
1. if a page has your link on it, then there is a chance that you wil lget backlink from that page when search engine spiders crawl that page and follow your link. 2. the way press release works is that you write (or have someone else do the writing if you are not familiar with PR writing yourself) and submit that to press release sites. there are some sites where you can submit your PR and at the same time there are some site that would distribute your press release if you submit to them. you get backlinks and traffic from press releases 3. current bid price changes all the time and your best bet would be to login to campaign management and setup a campaign and place a bid on keywords. once your campaign starts running, you will see which position your ads are being shown for your given bid.
