MaxClients / MaxRequestsPerChild optimal settings

    Helllo,

    The server has a quad core capable 2,83 Xeon CPU, 4 GB RAM. Whenever I checked RAM usage was at most 25%, but the CPU load was high. I have seen Server Load (CPU) level between 2 - 4. Then, tonight the box had to be rebooted.

    Can someone give me good advice for these config parameters? (I run mainly proxies)

    StartServers 5
    MinSpareServers 5
    MaxSpareServers 10
    ServerLimit 1500
    MaxClients 1500
    MaxRequestsPerChild 1000
    </IfModule>

    I'd say you'd probably be better off at setting MaxClients and ServerLimit to around 500 and startservers at about 10 and minspareservers 10 and max at 25
