I can't decide whether to drop a campaign or to continue working on it because I've spent a lot of money, but with only 1 sale. I've heard that affiliate companies usually give out free sales or leads in to entice the affiliate to promote the product more. If this is true I'm just going to quit with this offer b/c in reality it means I have 0 sales. If I actually made a sale I would continue working/tweaking. does anyone know if maxbounty does this?
Hello Amoeba, MaxBounty absolutely does not create "ghost" sales/leads. The only time a sale or lead is reported in your stats is when one of your surfers completed the action to generate the sale/lead. If you ask me, enticing publishers with fake leads is deceptive, counter-productive and just shy of being fraudulent. Creating a fake lead does no favours to the publisher as they cannot accurately gauge the value of their traffic and can wind up paying too much for it. Steve Sauve MaxBounty
wow a response from Suave himself. ty for the reply! did you get a new account at DP? I always thought your username was JP Suave.
Hey Amoeba, I'm not JP, I'm his partner (and brother), so that's why I've got a different handle. I tend to reply mostly to technical questions. Steve Sauve MaxBounty
I wanted to add to this theory of ghost leads to entice affiliates. From your post I can say that i am 99% positive you are promoting the offers through Google. If that is the case Google is the real culprit. When you set up a campaign Google will put your ad in various positions (from top spot to last spot) to see what their eCPM will be, the reason why most people get one sale right away then nothing is due to your ranking in google and your eCPM with them. Your sale probably came from being in a top spot, that you later lost due to not being competitive with your payout/CTR combination, or in other words not making google enough money with your ad to warrant being in a top spot. It should tell you one thing and thats to improve your ad so you can get back to the top spot and see more leads over the long term.
