Is there a limit on the number of pages google index from a site? I just did a search for site:www.amazon.com and amazon have 147 million pages indexed. I think amazon have more pages indexed on google than any other website. They probably receive over a million hits every month just from google alone. Does the number of indexed pages depend on pr? yahoo.com have pr 9 but google only indexed about 18,000 pages from yahoo.
No I don't believe there is a limit, Yahoo has 454.000.000 million pages indexed Check it here You just have to check using the command site:yahoo.com (without www) because most of the yahoo pages are under subdomains like travel.yahoo.com
Yup, Yahoo has 454,000,000 indexed pages. PR does not decide how many pages would be indexed. It varies from site to site, a PR3 websites could've 1,00,000 pages indexed. I had PR3 website with those many pages indexed.
With a PR5 you can have up to aprox. 5 mil. indexed pages. With a PR7 you can have like unlimited pages. With more PR, you also get a higher bot crawling frequency. With a PR5, your index gets spidered at every couple of days, and internal pages, like about 7 days. With a PR7, your index gets spidered multiple times a day, and internal pages like every day or every other day.
I wanted to ask the same thing as well. As far as indexed pages and PR are concerned i've seen more pages indexed of a low PR website than similar one with high PR. Maybe that was just one odd case. I could be wrong.
I built, promoted and worked on over 1000 websites. It's just my personal log. You can trust it, or not.
