It's commonly accepted that one shouldn't have more than 100 or so links on a page.

Do links marked with re=noFollow count?

Example: an ecommerce site taht has a browse by category feature. Click on teh category name and up come the first 10 or 20 or however many products out of XXXX products.

There are paging links at the top and the botton of the results - these links are identical. There are 500 results; 50 pages of ten. So you have 50 links at the top and 50 at the bottom.

If you were to put re=noFollow on the bottom set of paging links, would they count toward the 100 link total?

I don't think you will get penalized for having this many links on a page so I would not bother with nofollow.

If the links you have are for search engines then the nofollow will obviously stop them.

If the links are for people then I think they need to be categorized a bit more. Having 100 links on a page will put people off. Catagorising them will help focus your site towards specific catagories and help your rankings.

I have pretty good categorization - but one of my options for example is 'all necklaces'. There are over 2,000 necklaces and there end up being like 200 paging links at the top and bottom of the page.

I'd like the SEs to see the links, but the rumor is they stop following after a certain amount are counteed. I just wondered if I were to put the nofollow on teh bottom set og paging links, if they would still count....
