I imagine there is no actual limit, but does anyone have any recommendations on how big i should limit the file sizes to in order to have smooth playback and happy users? Also here are my assumptions on file formats: As for file formats, it's all a matter of if the user has the specified media player to play a format. Most web users have flash, so that is a good one for all users. Almost all Windows users have Windows Media Player. Almost all Mac users have Quicktime. So the best options are to convert the videos into flash or have two versions of each video file, Windows Media Player and Quicktime. Is that about correct??? Thanks!
Flash files are actually generated frames of the real video you upload. Remember, the flash file does not eats up the quality of the file but just the quantity of the file. You have mentioned 2 different formats to convert. one for your self and the other for uploading purpose. The first option commonly goes with what type of HDD you use and which kind of Quality you enjoy on screen. The better the demand, higher the file size of the video. and vice verse.
