Max CPC with no competition

We just setup campaigns for certain keywords that have no competition. If I search these particular keywords in Google, there are no sponsored listings ever shown, however, 40-50 people approx search these terms per day.

I set up campaigns to target these keywords and set my Max CPC to 0.04, but I never see my own ads. I am seeing however in my reports that they are indeed having impressions... but not that many.

    So my question is...

Does setting my Max CPC to something very low like 4 cents prevent my ads from showing up all the time? I mean, there is no other competition for these keywords, so what would prevent me from setting Max CPC to 1 cent? I should be showing up everytime? Right?

    Thanks for any help.

even though there is no competition you still have to keep a certain level of quality with google otherwise you may still need to pay a premium even when no other advertisers exist.

Also if there is no advertisers, then there must be a reason for it. Maybe google does not allow or like what you are bidding on.

This has nothing to do with his question lol.

You can have a look at:
    https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool

If your ads still not show up, try to look at your QS and bid the recommended 'first page bid'. After bidding the recommended first page bid they should show up in my opinion... If not, try to contact Google and ask them!

    Google punishes poor landing pages.
Try putting you keywords 3 times in your adword add and as many times as you can on your landing page.

Even though you have no direct competition you should bear in mind you can still get other adds showing through the content network and for advertisers who have opted to accept keywords close to those they have defined rather than actuals ie with and without " ". Remember google are in the business to make money so if they decide to set a policy to increase the minimum they will. One of my campaigns went up about 3 months ago from recieveing thousands of impressions at 5c but now doesn't show unless I increase to 50c for the same keyword on the same site.

fyi I stopped advertising in that format and looked at using their help to improve the quality of the ads

its a QS issue. If you bid their min and get a high CTR, you can work the CPC down.
