The site that's not appearing in the index has a template I've seen used from here to timbuktu. I don't know if that has any bearing, but it is used (as I recall) with autogen software.. What I can say is that I commonly deploy sites with hundreds of IBLs from the outset, and it doesn't seem to hurt them (that is, they appear in the index).

The second site - nicely done. You do know that it ranks #1 for [web related articles] with around a quarter billion competitors ?.. though MSN shows some 4,335 Backlinks.. I take it you've since included the site in the coop.. :)

I hope you bought them all :)

    Cheers,

    JL

    Ok thanks.

I believe I hit a filter when adding 8K backlinks within 48 hours.

Wow, didn't know that. I like the fresh content feed on the bottom of all pages - that is from my own blog :). Guess how much coop weight is pointed? 12% out of 800 ... so about 100 or so. But I am linking from may main sites - that is why. Also per my own observations a new site launched is usually doing extremely well in Google for some weeks before hitting the sandbox - I have seen that over and over.

No, I only bought these 2. But I have custom coded from scratch something real that is soon finished.

My guess is if there ever were a co-op "penalty" it would not be on sites linked to, but the sites generating the weight that actually run the links.

That would be my guess at least. If you wanted to penalize co-op type ads, that would be the way to do it without allowing others to get people banned.

That's strange, so if your site drops in the search results you have to ask for reinclusion?

actually as I said above it was quite obvious that the site was under a penalty.

I think for reference I will call it the "Page 2" penalty. Basically the site wouldnt rank for anything above page 2. Whether it was a 8 figure overture term or a 20... I think its similar to the "porn" filter that is applied to adult sites so they can never rank above a non porn site for somethign not port related. If that makes any sense

I can relate. I keep getting hit by the corn filter. Too many corny jokes.

i think we've experienced the same. nothing except our site name registering above the 40th result. before usually 1st or within the top 5.

the site did have the coop on it as well. but most of the weight came from other sites. too many backlinks too quickly. can't blame anyone for that but ourselves.

sidenote: hasn't seemed to have any effect if you search including the "only in our country".

I've sent in about a dozen reinclusion requests. I think it might be more accurate to state "It really does work -- occassionally."

I have no doubt that you are correct, especially after Brett Tabke's rapid (and rule breaking) reindexing.

I did it with linkinparkforums.com and it "sorta" worked.

LPF was banned and went from a PR6 to a PR0. I followed only matt cutts instructions on his blog but I happened to do it just after the last PR update so it's still only a PR0. However, before a search for "linkin park" had LPF nowhere to be found. Now it's number 16 so I'm thinking it's on a comeback.
