Matt Cutts deletes Facebook account

Matt Cutts is being an asshole again. This time he left Facebook to show the world how #1 Google is more important than #2 Facebook.

"A gaggle of Google engineers have expressed their displeasure with Facebook's latest effort to share your data with third-party sites, and many have gone so far as to deactivate their accounts.

This includes the Delphic Oracle of the SEO world, Matt Cutts, who announced his Facebook deactivation with a post to Twitter. Cutts didn't say why he deactivated, but the move came just hours after Facebook introduced an "instant personalization" thingy that automatically feeds your Facebook profile data to certain third-party sites when you - or your Facebook "friends" - pay a visit."

All you have to do is make your profile as Private as possible and nobody is going to get your information - through Facebook that is...

There are other ways to get info about somebody - it was just that facebook is so open and easy.

I have always been vary of the security aspect at these social sites and perhaps... such celebrity exits might induce FB to tighten the loop hole! :)

When knowledgeable people decide to leave, it pays to become apprehensive... to at least know the reason for their actions!

yeah, He is right. facebook is big security risk, IF you post personal info or pictures. No security settings will help you. And there are a lot of unknown application running all day.

I would not call him "asshole" just because he has deleted his profile on Facebook. If you know how Facebook privacy is easily to be cracked down, you would do the same if you were him. I have had some privacy on Hi5 but it had been viewed by unknown persons, even if it had been locked already. I have never share any privacy or personal info via social network website since then.

The only real information that I am sharing in socials are my name and maybe some pictures, but no way sharing my phone, address..Anyway Facebook know your ip, city, country.....You never know in a couple of years what will be the results of being so well promoted online, like some of the people are doing. I know guys who make their presence on hundreds of social with completely real personal information...

It's his choice to stay or leave, this is not a big news and facebook soon will be going down. That is product life cycle!

Hmmmm... how controversial is Matt Cutts...
I think this move is some critics for facebook, and maybe his move is right...
May FB will aware of it... some of my foreign friends have already deactivated their accounts too.
But i think i won't because in my country, cybercrime is still low, and also i have selected my friends list (hope they won't misuse it)

To me, Facebook is the "asshole" for sharing our private information by default to a third party. They didn't even announce about it.

I wondering if her left over privacy issues, if that's the case then its pretty funny since Google got in trouble recently for holding the sites visited by wifi users why they were mapping cities.
