Yeah, if they wanted to cut off paid links for PR, they could just stop showing the green bar and still count the back links for the algo.
Besides, paid links will get you to the top serps( eventually) but so would the adwords. The only difference is that they don't want to share it any more in the name of what ? the better SERP'S...

Google can just start asking people/google employees to start reporting sites that offer paid links.

But what type of webmaster would report paid links? everyone buys links, even Rand agree that purchase links should be okay, if we are willing to plug money into our sites, then they must be worth something, fine them, Ill just spam everywhere I can to get backlinks....

google started from nothing with no money from some kind of university project didnt it?
what about others in the same situation? selling a couple of textlinks per month to pay hosting

next we will see sites with yahoo ads being banned from google

 

That's only the beginning.

"Only web sites that have Google Adsense on the site will be indexed in Google Search. All other sites will be de-indexed"

Well when it comes to the past....... Paid links will only get to the tops if you want tops in Google...... Maybe not in Yahoo. So remember is all the search engines important. OR is google the only important SE to you. There is more than 3 SE really if you think about it. Which one brings the most, which one is the most important.

I did have a business that asked what Search engine that brought them to me. And the top 3 were:

Word of mouth
Google - Googleolopy
Yahoo

Just about equal in all things. But word of mouth brought more revenue and interest and advertising than google. Google isn't everyting.

If you mention Google 100 x's of course, Google will get noticed. The one with the most money and money to advertise and or tools will get the most mention. Even if the tools are sub par or given to sub par webmaster tools.
