    well...of course it shows the link? because matt cutt's blog gets indexed, and nofollow doesn't mean that google can't see the hyperlink

    Googlebot isn't following that link, but it still knows its there.

    'rel nofollow' is just to tell search engines "Do not carry my PageRank(PR)". It will not affect backlink count for that link.

    i think google will not follow the nofollow link, but the nofollow links still is backlinks.

    "nofollow" is treated like "follow, but only a little". View it as 10% of a dofollow.
