Newbie question.... would using blue+widgets be the equivalent of using
[blue widgets] or does adwords view these two terms differently?

    Thanks

    [blue widgets]
    is that exact phrase.

    blue widgets
can have other terms anywhere in the search string, like
    blue big widgets
    red blue widgets
    blue widgets random text

    "blue widgets"
can have other terms before or after the phrase, but the phrase 'blue widgets' must remain intact.

    hope that helps.

Thanks... but I know the difference between the different match types. I guess I didn't make myself clear.

Lets say I were to bid on the term [blue widgets], I would want my ad to only appear when a user searches fo blue widgets, but what if the user were to search for blue+widgets, in this case there's an additinal plus sysmbol, would my ad appear?

    Thanks

Google search ignores such signs, so your ad should appear.
