I'd like to know whether its best to buy a Master Reseller account or a VPS.

    Details of Master Reseller Account
    15gigs storage
    150gigs bandwidth
    cpanel/whm
    clientexec
    $15pm

    Details of VPS
    20gigs of storage
    150gigs of bandwidth
    cpanel/whm
    clientexec
    $30 pm

I'll mainly be offering shared hosting and reseller hosting along with hosting my own traffic heavy websites.

With a VPS, you get the assurance that you're not sharing your resources etc (to the same extent as on reseller hosting). You also get to install custom software as needed etc, and generally get more control.

Most master reseller companies oversell their servers and with that there seems to be more outages or less quality of the service.

With a VPS, most companies do not oversell, and you get what you paid for.

i think a vps is good for offering proxy hosting..for shared hosting its better to use some recognised resellers like hostgator etc.

VPS Is Better For Sure If You Know The Company Is Not Overselling

It seems my initial choice of a VPS is just being supported by everybody here. :)

Well it really depends on the full specs of the VPS. For $30 you aren't going to get Quad-Core's or 4GB Ram on a VPS, But Master Reseller you probably will.

As long as the VPS has at least 512MB Ram, And 2GHZ core, You'll be fine, Otherwise I suggest Master Reseller as long as the company you buy from Doesn't oversell.

I would recommend VPS as well.
to be stable in business, its good to offer shared and reseller only.

you dont want your resellers to be offering resellers. It is a burden and if you manage wrong, it can bring bad time to your service.

Vps and reseller accounts have different destination. And you have to understand that while signing up for that.

I think what he mean is reseller mainly goal is to sell the hosting for other people. on the other hand people who choose VPS mainly use it for him/herself. am i right?
