I'm getting rid of a database before it becomes obsolete for the the server I'm on as I can't spend the amount of time working on a new database. So I'm making all the pages static, currently the pages are as follows: domain/property_details/propertiesforsale-1.html What I'm thinking is: domain/properties-for-sale/property-1.html domain/properties-for-sale/property-2.html etc.. Not many of the current database pages have any PR, so there is nothing really to worry about with that. I can set up a 301 redirect from the d/b to the new static pages so if any PR it is passed over. Would this be fine or should I be careful with anything. Thanks Ian
I understand you can keep the same URL, why not? in any case, if you can do 301 for all pages you are fine
The reason for new url is for SEO with better keywords. I know that some of the search engines don't see property_details and would need an exact search including the underscore however if you use an hyphen SE class each word as individual etc... Ian
Just for the record, Google claimed in a recent article that the Google bot does not give much (any?) weight to keywords in the URL. Of course, no-one believes them, but I just thought you might like to bear it in mind.
Definitely put your keywords in your url as links without anchor text will be better with the keywords in it.
that is good but keep in mind while creating new structure that you should not use many "/" in it means the url should be short not very deep by creating long folder structure. Do 301 redirection of your old page's links to new links.
