    I think the legal issues surrounding the distribution of lyrics on the Internet might be what is putting people off - it's certainly the reason why I haven't got around to developing my own lyrics site yet. That might be why no one has bid yet.

    Legal issues? :eek: Well, there are thousands of lyrics sites out there on the internet that haven't featured any problems.

    But, on a safer note, that's why on this website I specifically put that all the lyrics are copyrighted to their respective owners. I don't think you can be legally pursued as you are not charging for access to the lyrics, and you are providing a statement declaring that the lyrics are not copyrighted to you and that the lyrics are not yours.

    I don't see how you can have any problems this way. :)

    I think some of the more popular ones have had some troubles recently.

    I'm afraid you're wrong there, or at least misinterpreting copyright law. Just because you say "these lyrics belong to someone else" that doesn't mean that you can display them without the permission of the copyright owner (it's a common mistake to make, I've had people use my tutorials on their sites thinking that's it's ok because they point out that I was the author). Your moral rights as an author give you the power to be identified as the author of a work, so you're complying with those, but copyright gives you the power to stop people copying without your permission. No matter how much you attribute material it's still copyright infringement if you don't have permission and it doesn't fall under one of the fair use exceptions (and I can tell you now that verbatim copying of entire works certainly doesn't :)).

    I'm not saying that you'll get jumped on by the record labels for starting such a site, but it's something to be aware of at least.

    Eh I doubt that you'll have any problems, and they aren't going to do anything right away - all/most will just give you a warning IF they have any problems. :)

    What you're doing is not very legal...
    I'm not talking about the lyrics themselves, even if it is not legal to distribute lyrics without artists agreement.
    I have good reasons to think you are not the author of this database, and trying to resell it as much as possible to earn money on it...
