Hi, My site was well positioned in google buy all of a sudden, I see that all my SERPs have dropped. One unique change I see is that previously my site was shown in google search as : http://www.aaaa.com Now all listings (beyond 100th position) are shown as: www.aaaa.com/index.php I see this may be the reason for the drop in SERPs. Any idea what could have caused google to make this change ?? And how can I rectify this ?? I have NOT made any change to the content or the site structure or web server etc etc. I am totally stumped and clueless. Anyone having any clue on this, please share your thouhgts!! Thx Vai
Sorry man, I am also clueless on your situation. Since you have made no changes, the situation is really critical. You should report it to google.
I just discussed this issue with my hosting company. They say that last week they had changed the server os to 64bit linux OS. But the web contents, .htaccess etc are all same and should have no impact on the way the website or robots etc work. Any ideas ?? How do I report this to google ?? Thx vai
Friend I had the same problem, but in 1 days normal position again on Google. I believe it just wait. Get a backlink, it may help to return soon.
That's very normal , i had an experienced to that a last year bad thing is... it lost in SERPS ;now back to normal.
No duplicate contents. I post articles on my website which I also submit to Article promoting websites like articleclick.com, articledashboard.com, articleworld.net. I wouldn't believe this to be duplicate content!! Should I create an http 301 redirect using .htaccess ?? Like redirect www.aaaa.com/index.php to http://www.aaaa.com Or should I just wait, its been a week since this issue surfaced. Thx Vai
I think there is option in Google Webmaster Tools account to choose a preferred domain. Ideally, I would wait fore few more days and see if its just a temporary algo tweak on the part of Google. Of late - there will be many changes- thats what I reackon.
If you havent already, go a google webmasters account and create one as one of the tools offered is whether you want www included or excluded plus offers a few other good suggestions. But i believe this to be just another google hiccup so be patient. thx malcolm
Although the issue may be unrelated, this does qualify as duplicate content. Google algo tries not to index two or more pages with the same content because it diminishes the user experience.
Its not the issue of "www" Its the trailing "/index.php" Thou having a trailing /index.php or not, is logically same, but it all depends on how google sees things. I will wait for the end of this week, else implement the 301 redirect. Thats the best I can think of!!
Look at your other pages in the site. Do they link back to the page in question with trailing /index.php I have seen some scripts that link to the home page in such a way.
You can use google webmaster tools to tell google how you want your site to be showed. per example: mysite dot com or www dot mysite dot com, etc. *I use dot insted of . because as im newbie DP dont let me show urls
