    Well this would also have a bearing on things. To be consistently strong in the search results you do need to get some inbound links.

    Yes, you can style the H1 elements with CSS. e.g:

    H1 {FONT-SIZE: 16px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #283da2;}
    Code (markup):

    Alright, thanks for all the help. I'll see what I'm able to implement or get the site editors to change. I really wish they were doing this and not me, but it's a good learning experience. I'm still a bit stuck on having people link to me, is my best bet submitting to directories for the time being and participating in online communities?

    For inbound links, you should read through the link development section of the forum. That is by far the most time consuming part of SEO. I would suggest you stay clear of the mass submission software as this tends not to work and can sometimes harm your SEO work.

    Article submissions, blog comments and forum signiture links would be a good start.

    Hey all, I just wanted to post a quick update.

    All your advice and help has helped immensely, and we've seen a significant upswing after implementing all of the measures talked about as well as other advice I have read about on this forum. I'm not exactly sure if it was a single thing or a culmination of a bunch of things, but Google is definitely sending more traffic our way and our page rank seems to have jumped up.

    Thanks for all your help :D

    Thanks Fommyblog for updating us and sharing this problem; I've read the whole thread and I also learned that I was making the same mistakes.

    If you're interested and want to know some other details about what we changed:
    We changed the page title/page description
    Updated Google Analytics code (was outdated and in wrong position, was causing slowdowns)
    Dropped some redundant stuff
    Streamlines page to load faster

    Changing the page title seems to have helped a lot, before we weren't showing up for our name, you had to type in the whole address. So, hope some of that helps

    Could be an alogirthm change for Onpage SEO..not sure if anyone else has noticed drops. I say this because you stated you continue to do work (offpage seo) but not getting the results from before. I suggest rechecking your onpage seo and keep link building. If it wasn't an algo change maybe one of your main articles got a lot of hits for a period of time, but has now subsided. There are countless variables but the best thing to do is recheck everything.

    It had to have been an algorithm change, there is no possible way people literally overnight stopped searching for 90% of our content.

    Who knows why stuff like this happens, I wish there was a magic google guy that people could talk to.
