    Dear evil Gadhafi,

. . . God made people even with their faults and errors; things like you are not made by God. You must be . . . something spilled from another universe into ours. You lack barest compassion even dangerous criminals have. You think shame is pride; you think ignorance is arrogance; you think suicide is courage (as you’ve said that you will live and die in Libya no matter what), you are lost in dark abyss but self-deceived that you’ve found light. A man who flagrantly shames the fine religion he practices. Islam essentially advocates for peace and equality among men, yet you’ve done exactly contrary—you are a hypocrite Muslim. You pray five times daily, and in between prayers you commit genocide of fellow Muslims . . .

. . . You’re a fool who can never help his country thrive in the global village. A relic of long-ago who thinks oil is everything. And worst of all, you’ve sired an abomination called Saif al-Islam, who despite good education has turned out to be an imbecile that can’t even articulate himself well on TV. Anyway, it is obvious that he inherited that trait from you—the undisputed master of mindless ramblings on TV. Your son cowardly lashes out to Libyans in the comfort zone of your protection. He thinks he will take your place someday. But I have news for both of you: “someday” will never come; your ends are nigh . . .

Hate to be a wet blanket, but statistically you have a problem with the way you set up your poll options. You're keeping it open a bit over a month, so the way it's worded, the choices offered don't mean the same thing to people that take the poll on different days. To make it work you'd have had to use date ranges.

    Sorry, force of habit.

Thank you "robjones". You don't have to apologize, you just taught me something valuable.

So to my fellow DPers, know that this poll was posted on Feb 28, 2011--the commencement date of predicting days left for Gadhafi to be ousted. I apologize for the mix-up. Thank you all.

I just went with 4-5 days.

Of more curiosity for me... How will it end. It's pretty obvious he's done, but how does he go. Most probably he kills himself or is killed by his own people. He could take the money and run, or get captured and tried for crimes by his own country, or several other possibilities... But with him bringing in mercs to gun down his gunning his own crowds, I'm thinking his own military shoots him.

My only question is, what will happen to Mohmed al-Megrahi once Gadhafi is dead. IMO, worth the money to have the CIA put a bullet right between his eyes.

Gaddafi is the archetypical banana republic dictator - except he's on the wrong continent.
I hate to say this, but he will not leave on his own accord, and unless there is a foreign presence in the country soon, this will all die down in a flood of blood and tears - and everyone will forget about it in a month's time.

Oh, and I voted for never - not an absolute never, but, until his death

I would agree with that except for the fact that he does not control enough of his own army to keep his ass alive, no less project force. Rumor has it he is bringing in foreign militias who are willing to gun down the Lybian people so I guess we will see how that plays out. My guess is that it will unite the lybian army with the revolutionaries.

Interesting approach. You really believe the army would side with the revolutionaries, or, will they just take the reins instead?
I have a hard time believing men with guns walking away from power, mate.

There isn't much of a difference in my opinion. From what I've read, their society is tribal and highly fractious. Once Gadhafi is gone, they will more than likely be butchering each other for control. Having a few ex-military and their weapons on your side (leading?) will help whatever faction you are with.

It may sound pessimistic, but I put my money on the Islamists coming out on top. Their willingness to use terror as a tactic to butcher their fellow Muslims for power and money will prove to be overwhelmingly powerful.

Double fail. Notice how it's asking a question, and not making a statement.
