Is this against the TOS? (ive tried but cud never read it fully...lazy me!) ive seen even DP guys doin it in the site - is this arite or?
I'm pretty sure it is against the TOS. I haven't read it lately, but I remember it saying something like "ads must be 100% visible".
You know, I've kept from speaking out in threads like this because I didn't want to be rude, but this one really takes the cake. How about this for a unique and innovative approach: Instead of trying to trick your visitors into clicking your ads, why not create a compelling and interesting website that will draw them and hoards of other visitors back time after time, thus increasing your ads' visibility and your chances of making a better living through Adsense? Sometimes I think Adsense has been a great setback for the WWW as a whole. There is no shortage of sneaky, spammy little "webmasters" that don't creat pages because they have anything relevant to share; they only create useless crap pages to try to earn a quick buck through fraud and deceipt. If you are even pondering a question like the one posted above then you are one of those "webmasters." Why not save everyone that surfs the web the headache and go look into a fulfilling career as a telemarketer or used car salesman?
Thanks SD for being honest. well, u havent answered me yet - rather exploding ur anger to these "slimy webmasters" i see DP guys doing it in their html pages(nt here in the forums) and some other sites too. I think this is a risk actually - since they are against the TOS. but i was asking if DP cud do it - why cant others?
I thought that if you have the URL the same colour as the background that it will default it to either black or white..... Therefore making it impossible to mask the URL, however some ads show the URL & some ads don't.
I guess if you put the background-color as say #FFFFFF, and the link color as #FFFFFF too, the adsense system will replace the link color for another. Now i'm so tired to confirm this
I didn't "explode in anger" and I didn't say "slimy webmasters." I expressed a disdain for "spammy webmasters" that have no talent and thus resort to trickery to try to make a living with their crap websites. Additionally, just because others on DP do something doesn't make it right. This is an open forum. Unless someone is really causing a ruckus they don't get banned. A dozen DPers can go around saying that the color pink is really black but that doesn't make it right and I highly doubt they would get banned for it. However, I am certain that someone will eventually speak up and say, "No you idiot, pink is pink." If/when that happens, will you be there to tell them that they "exploded in anger?" And you're welcome for my honesty.
It's obvious by this guy's response he really could care less about being honest and care more about $. Hey, greed can do that to you.
What you are asking in the first post is not possible. It may seem so as google has some ad units that do no include the url in the ad. Try the half banner. Google adsense will not allow you to have the url the same color as the background of the ad and that is the background you have to match it with not your site. You would have to match the background of the ad and the url to be the same and its not possible, give it a try.... I did.
The Fox: If you are trying to make the URL less outstanding, then here's a suggestion for you - you can make the URL the same colour as the ad text. That way the Ad Link (the title of the ad) would stand out. But you shouldn't "cheat" the system, or AdWords publishers for that matter. They are the ones who pay all of us - if they up and go, guess who suffers? And fyi, this has been covered before: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=107057
Doesn't matter. You can go ahead and give it a try and see for yourself. Adsense will just default the color if it's too close to your background color. Remember, Adsense can READ your pages...
Many thanks for all your suggestions guys. I wasnt trying to put this into my ads - i wud never do anything that goes against the TOS. But having said that - i dont want to see such things happening at the most "reputed sites" . if i was an adword sponsor, i wudnt want my ads on these sites. cheers to all those guys for the lines....
