another question...if i decide to redirect my URL to the hoplink which takes visitors to the vendor site, is that permanent or can I change that in the future? Like can i redirect it while im working on the site and then later IF i decide to, have a squeeze page for them to land on first?
you can change it any time with Pretty Link and not lose any tracking data. for example - you'd create a Pretty Link: mydomain.com/bonus then you can assign 'bonus' to any url and change it any time.
Well , for me masking is the best option to promote my clickbank link since it can hide the real of clickbank link.
The only reason to cloak a Clickbank link is to get more clicks. I won't keep your IM buddies from hijacking the affiliate link (and commission) once they hit the order page. So, cloak and track to get your conversions up and stop worrying. But if you need something to worry about, then start obsessing about traffic S.
True! In Wordpress, go to Plugins - Add New enter "Pretty Link" into the search box select Pretty Link Lite Click Install
If i just do a redirect, then i dont have to create a squeeze page correct? because it goes right to the vendor's site? Do you think that is better than having my own squeeze page and then them going onto the vendors site after visiting my site? Also, if i do a redirect, can i change that later if i choose to eventually make my own squeeze page? Kinda confused
temporary is a 302 redirect, permanent is a 301 redirect. i've always used a 301 redirect for aff links.
so by doing that there is no need to create a squeeze page correct? Do you think that a redirect converts well compared to making your own? and have you made your own to compare with?
I told you what I prefer in this thread It doesn't have to be either one or the other. You can have a landing page and still use a redirect link.
Forget all these silly plugins or scripts you don't them. Set them all up in your .htaccess file, which is located in the root directory.
Ok, I guess I have a question or two then to fully understand. Say I write an article and at the bottom i have a link to my site, that is redirected to the vendor...That means that I dont have to develop my own site because it will "redirect" them to the vendor's? correct? That being said, if i choose to do that, and do the 301 permanent, do i have the choice later to make it not a permanent redirect haha and actually develop a squeeze page? If so do i lose all the backlinks that were made with the redirected URL? or do they remain there as part of the now newly developed squeeze page? if that question makes any sense at all? I do appreciate your knowledge though!
You can redirect at the domain level AND at the page level. So yeah you can buy a domain which redirects directly to the aff link so you didn't have to develop a squeeze page. But IMO its not as effective. The way you increase conversions is by pre-selling the visitor. You do that by creating a landing page, writing a review, explaining the benefits, stuff like that, and then you can still use a redirect link so it doesnt look like an aff link. It's more work but it pays off.
So a redirect at the domain level takes them straight to the vendor without ever stepping foot on my site, but a redirect at the page level has them step foot on my site, read my content, then just click on a link the directs them to the vendor? If thats the case, how is the second part any different then having a developed squeeze page with a link to the vendor, or is it pretty much the same?
