Marriage was created before the Internet or Phones, so you could communicate with somebody

now we don't need anyone sticking around permanently, want to communicate or bored- just log-on, same for "housewifes", there are mates for cleaning or food delivery for food, wife's are just too expensive- much more than the mistresses

If you don't believe in marriage then you have to scratch the word 'bastard' out of every langauge of the world.

I believe people are naturally monogamous, however when have we ever been known to act naturally? Hell we build thinks out of concrete so we don't have the displeasure of looking at grass and trees. As far as rituals and terms of the social rite called marriage, they vary widely, some seem more natural to me than others, but I stand by my belief that people are meant to have one mate at a time, whether that is one mate for life is another story ;D. And scratching out the word bastard is fine by me, we can replace it with something like parentaly challenged.

"bastard" as a naming for the kid should be illegal at all - try to call publicity Jolie Pitt's kid a "bastard" and see what would happen...........

"A bastard (also called whoreson) in the law of England and Wales was a person whose parents, at the time of their birth, were not married to each other.
If the parents married after the birth, the child would remain a bastard."

It doesn't matter if one believes in marriage or not or believe in any religon. According to almost all of the leagal systems around the world child conceive before marriage is a bastard.

So if someone dont want to get married because he/she thinks its not a natural thing thats upto them but they should consider marrying for the sake of their children. To protect them from going through bad childhood.

Bastard sounds a lot better than whoreson! I guess the beauty of it is, if you don't believe marriage is natural then you don't need to give a damn if someone calls you a bastard or not.
    Edit after the fact...
Single parents can raise children who have good childhoods. Couples can raise children in horrendous ways that scar them for life and often their children as well. If it just took any two people to make a good family the world would be a lot better than it is.

In my religion, GOD says human beings r greater than animals, insects, and everything present in the world.

Even we r greater than Angels.

Marriage is for people that believe in a love that goes beyond the body. Ask an atheist how they would define love, and they will most likely say, companionship or if they wanna get really scientific they will say " when my nerver endings feel chemically compatible to your nerve endings".

the word faith would never enter into that marriage and it would be a physical union that is destined to most likely fall apart. Shallowness on a grand scale. night dudes im gonna go have a synaptive celebration of creative psychosis(in other words, a dream).

Pingpong, you really have a misinformed view of atheists. First of all, there is no one being, "atheist." We are as varied as anyone else. Secondly, to be an atheist is not to end inquiry, curiosity, exploration - in fact, in my experience of it, quite the opposite. Marriage means as much to "us" as it does to anyone else, and your statements here are based in ignorance of the reality.

really?. According to statistics, You know, Numbers that describe reality and aren't random lies fabricated by someone to support a preconceived conclusion, Atheists are less likely to get divorced than Catholics, Christians, Jews or any other judea-christian cult members.

Great point. Take the Wolf for instance! Mates for life! Companionship and Monogamy are as natural in nature as they are with humans. Of course so are death, multiple partners and loaners.

GRIM, there's a place near me called the Farmers Inn, where there actually are Animals in the bar... It's strange... Very strange, but one hell of a fun place! Freaked me out the first time I went there. We were at a bachelor party and walked into the bar. My friends behind me, and a goat in front of me as we walked around to the bar. I took one look at the goat, and one look at my beer I had from the previous place and set it down on the bar and kept walking. My buddy behind me picked up that beer and put it back in my hand and said "no Jer, it really is a goat"... What a messed up place.

The best part of the night was when the farmer girls were mud wrestling with pigs. I'm not native to Wisconsin, but the longer I am here, the less these things seem to surprise me now.

Ironically they had a rooster in a cage that read, "don't touch my cock".... Some guy stuck his finger in there and got bit pretty bad. Moral? Don't touch the cock.

Yeah? Well in MY religion, humans were created from mud. And by the time we were created, all the "good" traits were already taken by all the other animals, so all we got was fire, and the ability to walk upright. If you've had any kind of back problems, you know that's not really a "gift". ;)

I'm not sure ALL the good traits got taken by the animals... I've seen some mighty fine traits on some women that I've never seen on any animal.
