Do you use the xenforo resource manager, or is the marketplace custom? What did you use for the marketplace when you were using vbulletin 4? I know your portal is custom.

It's custom built from scratch in-house. Our vBulletin versions (for 3.x and 4.x) were also built in-house.

I know that your portal is custom also. I read a thread on xenforo.com. If portal entries are added via the admin cp, then how come some users who are not admins can post to the portal?

But there are articles written by people who don't even have a profile and i see users posting to the portal that are not administrators . I have attached a screenshot. The circled users are not administrators.

You understand that those entries are pulled from outside sources, right? Feeds, or maybe even put in manually, although I doubt that very much...

@rustybrick posts a lot of them and he is not an administrator.

Sometimes, I wonder if you're a bit dense. Sorry, I don't mean to put you down, but... what about my statement was confusing?
If you look at the posts from rustybrick, they all seem to stem from one webpage, and they're all written by him (took me about 3 minutes to check and see that the author of those posts (at least some) is rustybrick, and that they're all from the same website). The website is probably being pulled via RSS (or something smilar). How is this complicated in any way?
