Marketplace Feedback Scoring Doesn't Make Sense

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by YMC, Nov 4, 2013.

I recently started a contest and only then noticed that my score as a buyer is only 50%. Apparently, someone is claiming that I didn't pay them. I've only done a few transactions on DP but I believe I have fully paid everyone. If someone truly did not get paid, I want to make it right. Or, if they are making an unfounded claim, I at least want the opportunity to post my side of things, if not have the unpaid score removed. But, I can't see even the thread the transaction is from. The person also left no feedback.

It says I had 1 transaction with 1 different user and spent $40 as a buyer. But, my history shows one completed and one unpaid. Doesn't that mean there have been 2 transactions? After all, if a transaction is unpaid, how can it be complete?

I did have one transaction where I was given a refund but I believe that was under the old iTrader system and the seller and I were in full agreement that the transaction should be reversed. Other than that, there were no issues with any of the transactions that I have done on DP.

    What gives?

I do not like it one bit that I have no ability to even find the transaction much less dispute an accusation of non-payment. For all the flaws with the iTrader system, at least you could see what transactions/threads feedback was applied to.

And, why do I have to be logged out to even see my feedback and transition history?

Well, thank you for the link. But, now I still don't know how to resolve this. I paid the seller. She sent me the articles. Why would she have ever given them to me if I hadn't paid her?

    The transaction says..

    Instant Pay:
    No
    Does not qualify for feedback.

If it doesn't qualify for feedback then how could it be marked unpaid?

My guess is that the transaction *was* an Instant Pay transaction, but after the fact, the seller removed their PayPal info. It should self-correct the next time your marketplace history changes since it rebuilds everything for you.

So, until I complete another transaction through the marketplace, I'm stuck with a bad rating because the seller in a previous transaction pulled their PayPal info from the system? Seems utterly unfair. Is that really the only way to get rid of it? It seems like it is forcing me to buy something just to clear my name.

You can sell something too if you want. Actually, what would be "fair" would be if it didn't remove the unpaid since it wasn't paid at the time it was supposed to be.

It was most certainly paid. "Jess" would have never have given me the files otherwise. It was paid in full on August 12, 2011 and I have the PayPal records to prove it.

What's unfair is a system that apparently reports information inaccurately if someone makes changes to their account at a later date.

It doesn't report things incorrectly. The record of the transaction is not removed from our system regardless of any changes someone made to their account. It could have been an error on PayPal's part I suppose if they didn't notify our system of the transaction for whatever reason (although I've never run into that before).

The transaction in question wouldn't be the one for "Jess"... that one is the one that reflects the paid status (as you can see the transaction ID in your history).

The $17 sale also has a PayPal history showing paid.

The $65 transaction was refunded, by the seller, not through a PayPal dispute, because there was a problem with the script.

Not sure... did you pay for them through the normal Instant Pay link it gave you? Anything paid directly (not through Instant Pay), it of course isn't going to know about.

Would there be anything displayed on the PP transaction that would indicate if it was paid through Instant Pay?

Yeah, there would be some info in the "custom" field (which is what is used internally to cross-reference it back to the right user/sale).

I'm not seeing a "custom" field on any of the transactions.

Yeah, that was the one it knows about... do the other ones look the same? I guess you could tell by the Item Number since that will always correspond to the thread ID. If there is no item number, it wouldn't have been done via Instant Pay.

That is the only one with an item number. The other two don't have one.

They aren't Instant Pay transactions if that info isn't there...
