    DPers:

Need some advice on how I should market my Marketplace 2.0 concept. I have been operating http://www.techtagg.com since August of 2006. It is actually doing well so far and thanks to DP members for that. Many of you have helped me get that up and running.

However, now to make it even interesting I have added http://marketplace.techtagg.com - a place where taggers can now post their marketplace listings from any forums such as DP, sitepoint or even from auction sites like eBay and so on.

First: I want to know if a site like this already exists. I know of deals sites but is there a marketplace 2.0 site? I wasn't able to find any. I have marketplace20.com, should I setup this site there then? Just a thought...

Here is how this would help people:

    1) This will increase traffic to their listing (who ever listed it)
    2) This would be a great place for people to find tech related marketplace items such as websites, domain names, contents and scripts for sale.
    3) This would give people a tool for auction listings so they can discuss about that auction item before they decide to bid on it.
    4) etc...

Second: I want some marketing ideas from you guys to market this idea to the thousands of people who use marketplace section on a regular basis on forums or people who spend a lot of time on auction sites. What kind of approach should I take? If you answered "NO" to the first question then I think I can do a press release to get bloggers attention and so on.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

I wouldn't use a separate domain. You already have a userbase at Techtagg, and it's the same general principle for the users anyway.

A lot of marketplace listings expire pretty quickly (like auctions obviously). What about setting up something on the tagg page like with a dropdown with time frames? This way, if something's expiring soon, it won't sit on your site.

Another thing that might make it appealing (and maybe you have it already) would be to have a marketplace rss feed or something so people can keep up on anything users thought was good enough to tagg there.

Jenn as always thank you for this input. Yes I am considering a way to add that extra field so that it works well. You are right about the expire dates. Since many of these marketplace items will be webpages, web offers, auctions and similar items, they will have an expire date. Totally makes sense.

    Any other thoughts? anyone?
