Simple list of marketing methods with numbers. What worked and what did not. Feel free to share yours! killerstartups.com - I have used this more than once with a site launch. Takes about 5 minutes; My last launch which was this March gave us 236 visitors from killerstartups. The average user viewed 4.41 pages and was on the site for 2 minutes and 10 seconds. I give this one a 10 out of 10 because it is cheap, easy and works. forums.digitalpoint.com - I spend a good amount of time here just for my own reading and socializing, as well as some business. From posting one thread in places like buy and sell we get around 171 visitors that view 7.32 pages and on the site for 6:38 minutes. I give my favorite forum a 6/10 as it requires a bit of work on a daily bases. seomoz.org - I have written two articles for YouMoz on SEOMoz that are well in the 1,000 word arena. For that I got 112 visitors that looked at 6.99 pages, over 5 minutes 39 seconds. I give this a 4 out of 10. To much work, hardly any reword. reviewme.com/payperpost.com - I have used the paid review, free review, any review method. Mixed results over the years, however for this post I will try and do best of bread. My average spending for reviews is $100-$500. We required paid review blogs/sites to have an Alexa under 80,000, Google PageRank over PR3, and a active commenting community on all post. Our last review was from johnchow.com for $500 (3rd time we have used him over the years, but time was $250): From that post we picked up 195 visitors, with 6.77 page views and was on the site for 3 minutes and 41 seconds. This puts the cost in at $2.56 a CPM, which is about $1.56 over what I would like per click. For johnshow and most other bloggers like him I give them a 6/10. It works somewhat, but not that cheap of ROI. Press Release - I have done many press releases over the years. You need to have a compelling story for this to work. My last press release did not product much results on a 4k budget, I would say less than 200 visitors in all. The press release before that landed us in Time magazine. We spent low 5 figures on that release and pulled 1,288,997 visitors in 30 days. I give press releases a 5/10 as they are hit and miss and are not supper cheap with a press person doing the legwork. Google AdWords - I have used sight targeting, broad keyword matching, you name it and never had much luck getting adsnese to be worth the ROI. Maybe someone else can share otherwise, however I have to give Adwords a 3/10.
killstartups is messed up. Whenever you try to submit, the form says fill in all information; even though i did
Hi l3vi, I like your posts, they are pretty informative. It is because of this that I have added you to my contact list, so I can read more. I also sent you a friend request. Hope you don't mind, Ray.
Thank you for sharing your experience l3vi. Using google adwords is an art. WIthout it, it's very risky to run the campaign. Even my friends sometimes lose money run campaign for his CB products. Thank you... for sharing your process and experience once again.
