you can post micro msgs with your links on twitter , grow your followers, first follow and make networks and tweets point to points messages.....
I have gotten a fair amount of traffic to my blog and have made sales directly on twitter using a tweet including an affiliate link. It takes an investment of time and interaction. I'm mean that you need to tweet with people. Tweet interesting and useful information to your followers. When they see your tweet going by they are more likely to read it if they know you usually tweet something worth checking out. If all you do is tweet about products constantly they will sooner or later unfollow or worse block you. Twitter is social and people there want to be social. The thing you want to avoid is getting blocked. Especially by a bunch of people all at the same time. One of the things Twitter watches is blocks. Since people only block you if they never want to see you again Twitter will probably check out what you doing. If they don't like what they see you may get suspended. People do make it back from suspension sometimes but not often. As people get to know you as a person that gives good tweets and you RT (retweet) other peoples stuff worth retweeting you get noticed. People pay more attention to your tweets and RT you. People see when you RT them and that usually gets you a retweet. They may tell their followers to follow you. I have about 1700 followers but if I get RTed my tweet may reach 100 times that. So making friends can really expand your reach. Twitter is a tool you can use for marketing. People that say it doesn't work don't know how to use it. It isn't something your going to just set and forget and make money. You have to invest time just like everything else. It's worth it to me. I've made sales, made real friends, have been given things, gotten JV offers, the list goes on.
Google is now indexing more of Twitter, more frequently. Its just a matter of time before it gets a real time feed. Google knows the value of real time chatter, but its crawling and indexing based approach to gathering information means its off the pace. If you can train Google to access your tweets, you can then get information out there into the Google sphere.
Twitter is one of those things that reflects the way the Internet works in general. Something is red-hot for awhile, then too many people market enough junk on it to make a swamp, then it cools off and plateaus out. I think Twitter is what it is. The more blatant outright marketing you do on it the less value it has. Post a real post once in awhile at least. Look at mine... http://www.twitter.com/yourockradio I have a personally made design, but not too marketing oriented, and I try to use the Twitter button here plus do real Tweets a couple of times a day if possible. Twitter is much like any site (even DP) they have certain protocol and rules. Try posting something in the wrong forum here and you will get hit on the head and the post moved. Twitter is about communication, and not one-way either. Communication is point to point and back, not a link to sell your junk 100% of the time. Your followers will ignore you or unfollow you if you are annoying enough. Marketing is about numbers, but is also about CLASS! Show some dignity at least. Like now. I will post this on Twitter and it has my DP post on it, that shows that I am working with people not just selling stuff. Helps to show that you actually DO something on it besides peddle your stuff.
This is great to read guys... SO i'm wondering a couple of things. 1) How long you been using twitter ? 2) How do you get followers in the first place ? (i sema to be struggling to have any!)
Here is an article on how I was marketing myself using Twitter. also check the thread in my signature,(Social Media Tips) I just wrote it this week
Thanks for those links they are certainly helpful to me So hope they will benefit other new users too.
Please stop trying to run up your post count. As for the OP, Twitter is so filled with spammers nowadays, that you can barely market. You can start by tweeting normally, and than slowly integrate tweets about your niche. It's a risky procedure as you can have your account suspended. I personally use it as another micro-blog, not something to market with. Yugo,
Increase your followers with tools like Tweet Whistle from http://www.tweetwhistle.com and the rest is easy -Paul
Very nice information. I have been building my list on twitter by driving organic traffic to my website and then asking visitors to friend me on Twitter. So all my followers are very qualified leads and they went out of their way to follow me. You might try this to get some more followers.
Tweet interesting stuff related to your business Retweet other interesting posts and reply to fellow twitter users. Use it for marketing, but enjoy it as well.
