For my new business idea, im going to need to get hold of businesses to sign up, before i market to consumers.

Going to need a few thousand before i properly market, so how should i go about it?

i was thinking, should i hire a phone sales company to phone up businesses, and get them to sign up?

    stick with online marketing?

gather a list of emails, and contact them tht way?

I need it to happen over quite a short period of time, so how should i go about it? any good companies to offer?

im in the uk, but will need to contact companies present on the web throughout most english speaking areas!

it would need to be a targetted method aswell.

    thanks everyone

Use emails as much as you can then pick up the yellow pages and start dialing. Just watch out for the phone bill.

Get a writer to write up a few emails for you unique to your niche and start sending them out.

i've found that writing a detailed email, about 3-4 paragraphs and sending it to the senior manager usually works well, you should get a good response if you target the email content to the company you're writing to. If no respone after 3 days, send a reminder asking if they've received the email and what they're thoughts are. Hopefully you should get some response.

If you still don't get much response, ring them up and arrange a meeting with the senior manager.

If you can get the decision maker on the phone, it's a great way to go. It's a lot harder for someone to turn you down when they are actually talking to you vs. an e-mail or postcard/letter. At least that's been my limited experience.

okayy, so maybe if i got together a list of the companies, emailed each company in a personal way (mail merge), and personalised to each niche, and sent them out. only problem is, say get a 10% sign up rate, then i would need to send out about 50,000 to get 5,000 companies signed up.

if emailing doesnt work, i will email again, and lastly resort to phoning (not personally, outsourcing) however it gets expensive.

any ideas on how i could get the emails? would it be classes as spam to go to their individual websites to collect the email addresses? i wouldnt want my domain to be blcoked in spam filters instantly.

is there a site which maybe sells business lists for each niche?
