Hi, I may be starting a new venture with a couple of partners and it will involve selling a product to bicycling enthusiasts. Are any of you out there and, if so, what blogs, websites, etc., do you visit due to your interest in bicycling? I would also be interested in any other venues (magazines, etc.) that you would recommend if I wanted to market to these folks. TIA. JRBIZ
There must exist some forum for Bicycle enthusiasts, if not, try to take something sowhat similar. If you have something for an average bicycle, you could focus on younger people etc. I believe you ought to ask yourself "who would want to buy our product", age, sex, location, other hobbys etc.
I've got a friend who is mad keen on cycling- does loads of races etc - he's uk based so it has that bias, but he's very serious about his cycling and goes to events around Europe I've copied and pasted this from his blog (I've included it in the list) - they're not clickable so you'll have to google to get the links BLOGS 2Wheel Chick Belgium Knee Warmers Bike Snob NYC Chasing Wheels Chris Hoy News Copenhagen Cycle Chic Cycling Fans Anonymous Cycling London Dave Moulton's Bike Blog Emma Johansson Euro Peloton Fat Cyclist Herneweb Kimberly Kabatoff Life of a DN1 Espoir Life of a Spanner Man London Cycling Diary Merckx Rides Again... I visit vorb - it's local but has a huge membership I'd sponsor some events, have team riders in your shirts etc. It all depends on how quickly you need to grow and how easily you can access the local market. Flyers in your local stores are always good - and get them to sell you too.
sarahk, it looks like a very nice site and exactly what I am looking for. Thanks! I am hoping that this list will grow and grow with more posts, as well.
A good idea is to market with stickers on cars because when bicycle enthusiasts are in there cars they are much more keen on not being there.
erikj, thanks, that is a good thought and very true about a bicycler's mindset, from what I have learned to date. Would love to know about more blogs and/or websites that these folks are keen on...
