Hello all. I recently started a new business where local residents can purchase gift cards online from their favorite merchants. Right now, my main goal is to recruit as many businesses that sell gift cards from Central California as quick as possible. Please let me know what you would do to market a business like this. I am trying a few things right now, but am hoping that my fellow DP members will come up with some ideas that have slipped past me. Thanks in advance for your input!
canvasing on the streets doing a bit of research on the public and ask them what shops they would like to be avaiable with the card. you should get a range of people doing this for you. Like employee youths for Young peoples shops and so on. hope this helps David
Think of something that makes people will talk about your gift cards. What makes it special, and what do they get when they buy from you. Umm.. maybe you can get some sexy chics at the counter. That should help to bring in more business
Try cold calling. It may sound distasteful but it's a reality of real-world business. If you are afraid to do it - well, get a job instead.
Thanks for the input guys - I really appreciate it. To give you an idea of what we are currently doing, we are cold calling businesses with the intention of setting up face-to-face presentations, mailing out postcards, and doing AdWords.
Looks like your site is kind of an agent. How about the consumers? Yes, there are a lot of people going to buy gift cards - directly from the merchants - nothing to do with you. You won't make a buck unless people buy gift cards through your site. So it's important to let them know, and what is more, trust your site. In my opinion a schedule of promtion is also necessary.
