I'm trying to find new ways in gaining traffic. I hopped on this idea: Email Marketing, i tried it before with gmail but realized that it only allows 500 emails a day. Hmm.. too bad right?

There are alot of email marketing software out there but most of them are paid.

Is there anyone of you here knows a software or something online that could be used for email marketing?

    I'll appreciate your responses.

I found aweber brought in traffic but nothing else. I put a lot of time and effort into promoting an event with email marketing on a similar model to that you outlined - that too was a complete waste of time. Events are best marketed with press releases, radio appearances and leafleting (using a team and targeting relevant demographics).

Article writing is the best way of attracting traffic. Articles can be written to attract demographics and do so and can do so on an ongoing basis. Track their stats and you will start to understand which articles work best.
