what do you guys think of sales pages? sales pages are super long and a lot of them are geared towards newbie and people geared towards to buy but a lot of people hate it because they think products are scam products and they think ther eis a lot of deceptive marketing - like timed discounts and scarcity of the product

but I was wondering how else would you try to get those that would want to buy - is that the purpose of marketing?

You can have the same type of content without going with the classic look of a sales page. I will NEVER buy from a page that does not look professionaly done. I think most people feel that way. SEObook.com was a good example of what a different looking site but with the same form of content can be done. SEObook strayed away from the classic ebook site.

    I read the first paragraph...

It isn't that long sales pages reek of scam, and that people don't trust them, it's just that most will not read them. That's it, right there.

I don't know where he and other who think like that got that idea from.

You can have a good sales page by making it short, professional looking, and, giving them free samples, tips and advice.

Be there to genuinely help them, have a good site, give good advice, and everything else will fall into place.

I agree to all the comments but lately a lot do not even want to look at a sales page or even trust the sales page because they think it is a scam. I personally think if the person selling the product is genuine and has a brand and unique product I can feel secure of the product

I think it is just the fact that one person can not read the whole page or even have time to read the whole page and they think it is more of deceptive marketing than anything
