Marketing products for sale @clickbank: could it get more oxymoronic?

Okay, I understand that newbies will oftentimes be seduced with a sales pitch and rush to purchase a product without really pausing to consider they could buy it through their own aff link and get 50-75% discount.

HOWEVER, I've noticed there are many products doing really well at clickbank (gravity 100+) despite being clearly aimed at intermediate-to-advanced marketists. I can't begin to understand how that's even possible!

Here's the thing... if I were to buy ANY product on CB (or any other affiliate network for that matter) I'd definitely use my own aff link, not anyone else's. So, am I really really clever, really really lacking scruples, or really really missing something in this picture?

I think you just need some coffee.

After you drink some, go back and think on it some more at it'll all make sense.

It goes up? Example: If I were to buy Keyword Elite (which I'm actually thinking about doing), I'd do it from my own newly-created affiliate link. That would raise the gravity for the product since it would mean a new sale from a new affiliate. If I buy from someone else who's already made sales on this product in the past month, gravity would remain the same! In other words, if I buy from my own aff link, I'd actually be endorsing the vendor. If I buy from someone else, I'll be endorsing another affiliate.

Ohhhh, so THAT's why marketing products generally have high gravity?

    It's simpe mate.

    1. Guru launches product marketing to marketers.

    2. Tons of other guru's buy with their own hoplink = gravity skyrockets (every time you buy with your own link, you still give the vendor 1 grav point. 100+ sales to marketers = 80-100grav. Those same guru's will now blast this to lists which are often times still far too noob to know how to buy with their own links, many don't even understand the business model yet. (then later when they figure it all out they probably go "shit, I could have saved xx%...)

    3. Tons of noobs see the jump in gravity and assume it's the best thing since sliced bread so they also buy/promote it, which then reaches all the grass roots/bum marketers, and the cycle above repeats, until the ripple effect and email blasts dry out, then the product drops like a rock.

    4. These products rarely have a long life cycle, but marketing to marketers is basically a pump and dump with CB, the vendors already know this, and expect it. They just upped their buyer list by a few hundred/thousand, upped their email list by a few thousand, and have planned their next 4 product launches with an exit strategy/selling the site while on it's downward trend... It's quite the bizarre trend but it's quite lucrative too.

    :)
