    Hey guys,
I have a site in development right now that I need members to sign up and that wont be that hard once I get bands to sign up. So right now, bands are my biggest thing.
I need to know where I can reach bands that are in college and highschool only, and I need to know where I can reach regular people who are in college and highschool.
I don't want your opinion about the market being saturated etc, I just want to know these things.
So what I need to know is
    1. Where I can advertise to get the word to bands in highschool and college
    2. Where is the best place to advertise to reach kids in highschool and college

I have a 1k budget so let me know what you have.
Please give me whatever you can think of!
    Thanks
    Mike

I work a lot with this market (independent bands). Unless you're offering something new, they're not too likely to care. They tend to choose a few select places that will give them the best exposure. If you're just offering yet another music social networking site a la myspace / purevolume, your chances are slim. Tell me what's unique or different, and I'll tell you how you might be able to interest them.

    Hi
It depends on what your site is going to do really...

And yes - Myspace would be an excellent place to start.

If you aiming to have a site that focus's on kids who have got bands together then you could start with your local area first. You can search Myspace by area. Search by area in the musicians section and search generally in that area and take a look at which bands the kids are talking about.

What about making a list of open mic nights/acoustic nights/new act nights in the area you are specialising in? Where I live there are tons of them - maybe there are some near you too? This will be where the kids are aiming to play. Get out to them if you can - face to face is always a good way to go plus it absorbs you in the scene and you can find out what makes people buzz.

If you are offering them space on your website you could offer to review them.

If you can give a bit more information on what you're trying to do maybe I can suggest more.
