Okay, so I know the "how do I get more traffic" question has been asked a million and one times, but please bear with me! I've been running a website for around 3 years (well, longer than that, but this particular website for about 3 years). Traffic has obviously grown over time, and it's currently getting around 500 unique visitors a day (up from about 300 this time last year, and ~20 the year before). My traffic comes from various sources. About 25% from search engines (of which most is Google) and about 40% from mentions people have made about my site, mostly in forums, but I have also been mentioned on places like LifeHacker and about.com. The remaining 35% is direct. It's nice because I'm not too reliant on any one referring source. I want to start pushing my site more, and have given myself a small budget to help to so. I'm thinking around $250/month. Unfortunately, I'm very busy with (proper, non-this-web-site-related) work at the moment, and when I'm not working or doing extra freelance work, I like to spend time with my young son, so time is a rare commodity for me at the moment (luckily, my site pretty much runs itself). I've looked at various pay-for marketing options, but am at a bit of a loss as to the best way to go. I have recently looked at reviewme.com, and have bought a couple of reviews (any positive or negative thoughts about this service would also be appreciated). I make money from the website via AdSenese, so PPC services such as AdWords aren’t really cost effective as it relies on a PPC visitor in turn, viewing my ads, or telling others about my site. So... What's the best way to spend my money! - I know it sounds terrible, but at the moment I'm really looking for things which require as little work from me as possible! Thanks.
Add your site to some social bookmark sites. Buy some text links or ads on other sites. Watch out for PPc some site have ads on paid sites and that will get you banned from google.
In my experiences with PPC marketing I might be more inclined to advertise in a magazine to find a "better audience".
Try some banners or paid links on some related sites. Another thing you can try in optimizing your main landing pages better for seo.
You can look around this forum and find some people who submits your site to about 1000 directories witch will give you backlinks and a couple thousand uniques visitors and it only cost $30 to $60 , i have tried there service and its good, u can also do some text link adds, but pay per click is the most targeted traffic u will get to your site, so u can try all.
What does your site do? Does it sell something? Is it just content? Depending on what the goal of your site is, will depend on your marketing plan.
