Hi everyone, Recently I've setup a T-Shirt Design site called Text-Workshop. I'm looking into using Cafepress to sell my designs. Been searching about ways to market/promote my site and gaining traffic aka 'potential customer'. As I don't have much experience in online marketing etc, do hope you guys could teach me some pointers. I've submitted my site to most search engines. What's other stuff that I need to do? Some friends told me about using Adwords and PPC, how effective are them? or is there another better alternative? Thanks a million~
PPC (adwords) is a good way to get traffic, but you have to be familiar and ensure you know what you're doing with it. I certainly would not jump into it without reading quite a bit on it. It can be expensive if you do not know what you're doing. Basically, If I were you I would perhaps start looking into SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and link building. Also, look for other private websites that you can advertise on. Be prepared to invest money.
PPC is a great way since it brings in targeted traffic for your site but the downside is that you will need to pay for it. You have submitted your site to search engines and now what you should do is to build links with targeted keywords so that you can rank well for your targeted search terms.
Make sure you take advantage of social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, Reditt, Sphinn, Delicious, and all the others. It takes a little extra time, but it could be worth it, especially if your designs are cool enough to go viral. Then you'll be rollin' in the dough! Seriously though, good luck!
Thanks a lot for the useful information~ So right now is link building? Is it by exchanging links with other related website or blog? Investing on private website, yeah I'm prepare to spend money on it. No pain no gain Is there people/website out there who provide such link building services? And after link building, what's the next step? As I believe, for link building to work it'll take some time right? Sorry if my questions sounds dumb
Go for PPC to get customer not to get traffic. Many ways are there that can bring initial traffic to your website. Here are some online services that can give you traffic. Entrecard is the best option read my review of entrecard.

I'd actually check out Facebook marketing for a t-shirt site. I've seen some businesses have good returns using this method as it is promoting to your target market.
Do you mean advertisement or in form of widget? Did heard facebook provide cheap ways of advertising. Wonder if anyone has any review on it.
