Marketing New Subdomain - Retrace Steps?

I just added a store to my site -- store.mysite.com. It's starting to get picked up in the major engines. I've spent a lot of time submitting www.mysite.com to directories, etc. I've read where a subdomain is treated like a new domain. If so, what strategy should I undertake when promoting this new sub-domain. Since it's a store, the title and description are much different than my main site. I'm just curious as to what stragegy the experts on this forum would take to promote this new subdomain. I've already started using the Coop to point specific pages within the subdomain. I just got added to Google in position #6 for a keyword I was targeting. :D

That's a good start. Where to go from here..

    Thank you in advance.

If you treat the sub as its own entity and forfeit interlinking with dominant index of the hosted site you will be ok. Problems occur when you interlink subs with parent domain. Only giants like Monster.com will be forgiven and will usurp the G-filters.
    So to answer your Q:
Treat the sub as if it were any other brand new domain (links, title, articles, navigation, ext).

Right now, my site has links in the navigation and several banner ads to the subdomain. I can't be the first to add a store ala the store.domain.com and link heavily to it. I don't suspect Google would penalize for this.
