The first you would want to do is some keyword research and then optimize you website for the top performing keywords...you can start generating backlinks to you website using your keywords as anchored text.

In the meantime get you a facebook, twitter, linked in account and join some related forums to introduce yourself and your business to the net....

The "Best Way" is to figure out who your intended customers are... find out where they go... then put your site there. That's marketing. And if you want to make money you do the "figuring out who your intended customers are" first.

I don't market my sites... I market opportunities on my sites to people that I know something about.

Think of it like this: There is no point fishing in the pond if it's not stocked. Find the stocked pond first, then go fishing.

marketing your website is a broad description and you will be needing lots of techniques to make it on top.
You need to know everything about your website and your target market. Different ways are just around the internet, it's just how you implement it.

Basically, it pays to know your own product, your targeted audience and the way you can make all things consistently effective for online marketing. Research creates a lot effort though it is the most basic way to start things over. Next, what's important too is to build more connections through good relationships. It's easier to catch people's interest the more you know them and indeed, you'll know how to cater them. Also, by outsourcing a project idea, forming more plans can make those difficult goals easier by breaking it down to simpler projects and into certain schedules. Focusing on time value, I've learned this inspiration from this website: http://www.massoutsource.com and I wanted to always thank this blogger who shared these free videos to me.

The above mentioned posts are correct. You need to know what you are offering, who will need it, and where these people hang out. I built a very successful business spending very little money on advertising. I build the website and brand through interacting with people on different forums, social media, and through building relationships with people in the media. Anytime I had some big come up I contacted the local news paper, national magazines, and more to help get the word out. Depending on the site you are launching it might be worth sending in a press release to your local news paper.

If you are posting in forums DO NOT sign up and start posting up for people to check out your website. The forum you post in should relate the item or service you are offering. Start posting and interacting with others in a manner that will add to the forum. No one wants to be spammed. After a short time you can start to drop links back to your site. If people see you as a resource they will come to you. On some of the forums you will need to purchase a subscription in order to post things for sale. If the forum receives enough traffic with people interested in the industry you are in then it will be well worth the investment. I have offered giveaways or contests to get people back to my site as well.

Marketing "How To" is MUCH more than a simple post here on the board. Read as much as possible. After you determine who what when where set a plan of action and go for it. Remember in marketing strong results can take time. You should commit to the action and give it time to work.

You can start marketing your site with article marketing while you participate in forums to learn more ways on how to build your site.

If your site is a niche site, you'll want to focus on optimizing your site and doing keyword research. Then, use PPC for initial traffic and testing.

Always have the target audience for your website in mind before you create any niche. If not you may just waste your time and resources creating something that nobody needs. Most of it is to build your website , add good content to it and drive traffic to it. It pays off than marketing your website just like that.
I hope this has benefited you

You could join Xomba (see below) and then write link articles to each page of your site. You could publish parts of articles on Xomba too and put a link to where it continues (on your site) in articles. You could write articles about your site and publish them there with links. It works well for me sending traffic to blogs and articles on other sites. Plus you get a 50% share of AdSense revenue. The there are other simialr sites - though not as good - such as Hubpages...

Mr. internetmarketingiq is right. Based on your target customer your marketing strategy will vary. But as your site is just lunched, you can add links to those sites where traffic is high, PR is high, use link building, article submission, social book marking. It will help you generate some traffic. But the main thing is to maintaining the quality content of your site. Without this you will lose visitors.

That's the best way we should go about this 'marketing'.

And as the best method...I suggest using PPC. And SEO, altough it's kinda hard to get a good position in the SERPs these days.

Lots of good advice there. And also generic, like your question.

Let me put it bluntly - start by correcting that typo in your signature (What is "Ance Blog Great Articles and treatments"). Note to self: always proof your copy BEFORE publishing.

    Now to business:
    1. Get indexed in Google, Yahoo, Bing (submit website, submit sitemap, ping them each time you add content)
    2. Add content often in the beginning and keep pinging G, Y, B
    3. I assume that you did your market research, product research and keyword research. If not, stop anything, read about these on the forum and start by creating a solid foundation. The Internet is full of crappy sites nobody is visiting, and consequently not making ANY money.
    4. Put analytics on your website. Do not use Google Analytics on new sites if possible - better safe than sorry with their interpretation of bounce rate. Make a routine of periodically checking the stats (yes, that means daily and more once you start getting traffic).
    5. You need cheap backlinks. Probably there is a ton on this topic right here on the forum. If you have 5-10USD to spend, save yourself the trouble and outsource TWO forms of submission: directory submission and social bookmarking submission. Do not buy packages of more than 200 directories or 200 social bookmarking websites - anything after the top 50 is garbage or close.
    6. Get the links to your submission pages from step 5 and use a free pinging service to ping them (ping.in comes to mind, howiespinger.com is another etc)
    7. While waiting for your backlinks to age, do some Yahoo!Answers. Don't spam though, it's counterproductive.
    8. Once you start noticing your backlinks in Yahoo and backlink checkers in general, use a PR service to publish a PR article. Make it interesting - some of them will write some piece for you in the package, but in general it is lousy. Make good use of keywords in there.
    9. Search engines should know your website by now - so it is a good time to start pushing traffic. Twitter and Youtube are two good sources, Facebook groups another good option.
    10. Return to optimize your in-page SEO once you get the first results.
    11. Start engaging with other webmasters and promote you link. Offer to link exchange. Be nice.
    12. Keep reading, testing, optimizing to get the traffic as targeted as possible. Re-do some of the steps above with your own twists.

    Good luck!

Get good content, get backlinks, get ranked.

For backlinks, you can use RSS submission, video directories, article directories... :)
