I am trying to market my sites using videos. I submitted a video on building websites to profit from Adsense, Amazon.com, eBay and Clickbank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvfMXbxxEgY http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7272614805446828124 http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=684302 After a week, I did not noticed much traffic. I have filled in everything correctly eg., title, description, url etc. Has anyone tried this approach? How effective is videos? Regards, Daniel
Videos are more of a branding play, unless you can make it "viral". I run viral marketing campaigns with videos producing over 1.25 million + views and hardly noticed an increase in traffic. However, 1.25+ million people saw the logo.
You have to know how to use videos. I have used videos to get subscribers and these subscribers have become loyal customers. Give valuable and useful information, then if people are really interested in your stuff, they visit your site and sign up. Your videos have to be shorter, around 3 minutes. In your video you say that you are going to teach how to build a website, but you don't go into the details, you only show the structure of your site. There is not useful info. Keep trying and you'll see that you will improve your videos.
I agree with drig, in that you have a better chance of videos as a marketing and/or branding tool if they are more viral in nature. For instance, check out pepperjam's "who's your daddy" video. This was huge for them, and viral in nature, and has gotten crazy numbers of views. This is the correct, in my opinion, way to use video as a marketing tool, as it will attract viewers and naturally steer them towards your site if you can pull it off the right way. You don't need to hype your site in a video, you just need people to see your URL and associate it with the video they enjoyed.
