I think your best bet for this type of website to better optomize your website from a SEO standpoint. I noticed a few things you could do to improve it. You have some good articles with good subject lines. You should be easily ranking for a long keyphrase such as "How to put custom Firmware on your wireless router" but I don't even currently see you on the first two pages. An improvement in the SEO department will go a long ways I would think.
thanks i am also thinking of offering some downloads so people have register in order to download. is this a good idea
yes you can advertise in your signature that you are giving free downloads. also the download should be available to registered members only or you can also give it to guest.
