Well, I'm really inexperienced at the whole marketing game. I have lots to learn and am doing as much research as possible. Can anyone offer suggestions on marketing my content-based site? I won't start advertising until Summer of '07, a few months in advance of the season one launch date. But I'm putting together the pieces of my marketing plan now. So far my ideas include adwords, and recurring ads in trade publications. Any other suggestions? The url is in my signature. Thank you!
You might learn as much as you can about effective copywriting so that your ads (online and offline) don't tank (poor conversion).
Well, waiting out for outright advertisements till the needed time may not be a bad idea. However for the time being, building backlinks and getting listed on search engines may not be a bad thing. They do take time to build and develop so starting now should get you a higher page rank and some exposure as you approach the intended launch.
I don't have my sites running yet, but I've been doing lots of research myself. This thread has some valuable info for you: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=157022 Good luck
