Marketing My Online Magazine

So I have been designing and creating websites for quite a few years now however I have recently dived into a project for myself.

A partner and I launched and online magazine called:

    www.theneave.com

We have 16 blog writers and 16 categories to choose from. We launched about a month and a half ago and since then we have had a steady flow of traffic around 2000 uniques a month.

I know this is decent but I know we can do way more as we are getting no traffic from search engines or back links. Our current traffic is coming solely from word of mouth, facebook, and myspace.

I would really like it if you could all give me your opinions on the site and what we could do to increase our overall traffic. We are going to start selling ad space on the site in the next few months too so any help with that would be great.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Why that splash page? People wants to enter directly a website and not to make another click.
For more traffic use social bookmarking services and other services such as Digg.

I would start out with articles and social bookmarking. You want to start to become an authority on whatever subjects you are targetting. You are going to have to give out some good free content to be spread around the web that links back to your websites. If you articles are good enough or you can hire someone to write good articles for you, there is good potential in not only getting direct traffic, but many backlinks when other websites pick up your content.

I saw your online magazine. It's pretty interesting.
Do you have a group on facebook ?
Why don't you offer other writers to join your online magazine.. make a competition, so if they have a good content, they will get something and it will appears on your online magz.
    :)

where are good places to do press releases.

I know about prweb but I dont want to pay 400 bucks per press release.

Also does anyone a company that provides ad sales for websites. I dont want anything like commision junction or google. I am talking about a company that sells your adspace for you and takes a cut.
