Hello fellow DPers.. I started a site not to long ago yet I'm not sure how I should market it yet.. I don't really want to spend cash advertising it though hehe . I have been building links for it and it should around pr 3-4 next update.. The site I am talking about is www.dexurl.com its for people to submit their sites and rate and review each others.. Its kind of a Digg for websites.. Any recommendations would be great I started off by telling people in the freebies section of dp and got some submissions there.. Whats the next step?
Exchange links, get links from free web directories, try writing interesting and informative articles and submitting them to digg and other news sharing sites. By the way, nice site. I have joined and submitted 2 sites.
Thanks for your submissions lol anyhow yea I got the link part covered I have great experience in that sector hehe but I just need more ways to get more people to submit their sites and join etc...
Since people are looking for a static links I would offer that the top 5 will get a direct static link on the homepage. People would need votes so they will ask their friends to sign up. It might work. The same way you can do with the top 5 on each category. Good luck with your website.
Bro- Hit ALL the internet web forums and post info (ask to rate/review it or offer freebie posts etc) then do a pr submit to the press release sites..
These are the 10 most popular "things" that you can do. 10 ways to promote your website 1. Post newsgroups 2. Press releases 3. Email to VIPs 4. Article submission 5. Reciprocal Links 6. Forum Posting 7. Directory submission 8. Tell everyone with whom you communicate 9. Post adds to free advertising website 10. Blogging What is most important here ?
Hi, I wasn't able to get to your site, but in general, I think one of the first lessons I learned when first building my site is that the vast majority of visitors don't have the time or inclination to comment on anything. Just think about the tens of thousands of visitors who visit Digg and never comment or do anything but follow a link. Those who do, usually have a monetary or "ego" incentive. Many try to figure out ways to "beat" or "cheat" the system. This usually involves a group. So anytime, I, or anyone else tries to do something "interesting", you can be sure there will be a tidal wave of visitors who will try to cheat or beat it. This is one of the reasons I have not run any contests or "incentive programs". I am sure that I will have to deal with a whole lot of spam like stuff if I did. SO for the time being, I rely mostly on word of mouth or interesting content to attract repeat visitors. So far, my attempts have been very mediocre, but as I continue to understand the nature of the Internet and my own visitors, I slowly get better at it. The first principle of marketing is to know your customer. Good luck! Rich
Hi, Do you use offline promotion? Many people miss out on the value of offline promotion opportunities by imprisoning themselves to marketing their business online. Offline promotion is effective in generating both sales and traffics. Online promotion shouldn’t be your only plan to promote your site. Use offline promotion to build your online business. Here are some ideas you can use to attract targeted traffic to your website. If you ignore just one then you are losing business. Business cards, Printed Balloons, T-Shirts, hats, Flyers, Giving an item to charity, events, printed magazines, radio, TV, face-to-face networking, Classified Ads in your local newspaper, etc and the ways are endless just use what fit your business By the way I wasn’t able de to reach you website! It seams to be very heavy. Gley Yahya

I added my site to your site too. The site is very nice. I would try to market the site on other web development forums.
